In 2025, Bhutan launched a national selection for the yet-unannounced Eurovision Asia, revealing plans for the contest to fans for the first time. However, after four of the five planned episodes, the selection was cancelled just one day before the final at the request of Eurovision's rights holders, and all episodes were removed from the internet.
On 11 August 2026, Bhutan became the first country to select its Eurovision Asia entry.
